An active advocate for community and public health initiatives, Leilani works with local and national organizations to educate, inform, and collaborate on improving healthcare delivery.

C. Leilani Valdes, MD, MBA, FCAP, is board-certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology and Dermatopathology and has decades of experience in Laboratory Management. As the founder of Well Path Pathology Services, she serves as the laboratory medical director and pathology consultant for multiple critical access hospital laboratories throughout South Texas, including digital anatomic pathology support. Previously, she served as Laboratory Medical Director and Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Citizens Medical Center in Victoria, TX, where she practiced hospital-based anatomic and clinical pathology. Leilani is an active leader in the College of American Pathologists, currently serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the PathPAC after serving as a Governor on the Board and as Chair of the Council on Membership and Professional Development. 

Prior to her election to the Board, Leilani served on numerous CAP committees, including chair of the Professional and Community Engagement Committee and a member of the Economic Affairs / Measure Development Committee. An award-winning public speaker, she is a faculty member for the CAP’s Engaged Leadership Academy. Leilani is currently chairing the Economic Council for the Texas Society of Pathologists, having served as President (2023-2024). She also represents Victoria-Goliad-Jackson Counties at the Texas Medical Association House of Delegates. A graduate of the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, she completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology training at Los Angeles County – University of Southern CA Medical Center, followed by a Dermatopathology Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. Leilani completed an Executive MBA at the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business in May of 2022, graduating as a Leadership Fellow.
